Pumpkin Affogato Recipe

The definition of “affogato” in Italian is literally “drowned,” and typically an affogato recipe calls for an espresso-drowning of gelato. This, then, is our spin on the zippy dessert. Continue Reading »

Nutella Whipped Cream

chocolatey hazelnut butter cream I don’t even know when this recipe was introduced.  I am clear, however, that it dances through my dreams almost nightly.  It is so good.  Of course, it makes just about any dessert better.  But, certainly you’ll find that you are looking for ways to work it into your day from breakfast to dinner. Quick Cracker Jacks

A ball park favorite in under ten minutes When The Cincinnati Reds Manager Dusty Baker was on The Cooking with Caitlin Show (be sure to watch the episode) in the summer of 2009 Caitlin created this sweet and salty Cracker Jack recipe. Just pop the butter popcorn and add the salted nuts and sweet cinnamon and sugar and in just under ten minutes you will feel like you are sitting right behind home plate at a Cincinnati Reds game (or who ever your favorite baseball team may be). Although this recipe does not include the toy in the bottom of the box it takes a few minutes and just four ingredients to make and is the perfect snack to keep in the house or to serve at your next party with Beer Braised Brats. Caramel Cream Float

my mom’s favorite dessert I actually created this caramel dessert as a special treat for my Mom’s birthday.  Caramel Creams (you know, the caramel candies) are her favorite treat so I turned it into this super simple ice cream float dessert.  Mom was delighted and surprised; the crowd went wild.  This simple caramel dessert was a hit and an instant favorite.  And all it takes is a few candies… Think of Mom next time you make it. Popcorn Toppers – Cheddar

a snappy popcorn I am a big fan of popcorn - and not just for movie snacks. Now, don’t get me wrong, those popcorn machines sure can pump out some delicious, buttery popcorn, but you can one-up movie theater popcorn from your very own home.  Here’s one of my entertaining tips: dress up popcorn.  Yes, dress up popcorn and give it the appearance of a gourmet dish.  Toss hot popped corn with seasonings and spices and place it in bowls throughout your house as a super simple appetizer dish. Set out some fun mugs or napkins for people to carry around their popcorn and you have yourself an affordable, yet perceived to be gourmet food item. Dress up classic orange cheddar popcorn with some hearty rubs. Spice it up with dry rub BBQ seasonings, or create a Cincinnati specialty popcorn and add Cincinnati Classic Chili Seasonings. So, get out your popcorn makers (a.k.a. microwaves) and hit the start button.  This super simple treat will certainly take people by surprise (in a good way).
