Holiday Spiced Bourbon

Holiday Spiced Bourbon

Raise your glasses for another pour of this extra special cocktail recipe. Clink your glasses in praise of @eatthelove for sharing the inspiration. Thanks to his experience living in the Netherlands as a teen, we were inspired by his Speculaas recipe to create this adult beverage. Smooth and delicious all year round, this mix of sweet vanilla and savory spices is particularly delicious throughout the winter holidays.

holiday recipe

  • 1 bottle bourbon whiskey
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 whole nutmeg seed
  • 6 cloves
  • 10 black peppercorns
  • 1 cardamom pod
  • 1/2 inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled

holiday-spiced bourbon
Pour out 1 cup of whiskey from the bottle. (Save for
a personal beverage or for cooking.) To prepare your
spices for soaking in the bourbon, first slice the vanilla
bean in half lengthwise. In a small sauté pan, toast
cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, peppercorns and cardamom
over medium-low heat until your kitchen is perfumed.
Add the toasted spices, vanilla bean and peeled ginger
to the bourbon bottle and store in a cool, dark place for
3 to 5 days, shaking daily.

Strain the spices out of the whiskey and transfer the
bourbon back into a bottle. Serve over ice with cream or
your favorite juice for the perfect spiced holiday cocktail.
