Fresh Orange Salad
a fresh, simple and delicious fruit salad
This fresh orange salad offers a new twist on the fruit you have enjoyed since childhood. The juicy orange, combined with the simple flavors of parsley, salt and pepper, is another great salad to bring to the table.
Healthy Caprese Salad served on a peach and mini salads in Parmesan Tuilles are other surprising ways to serve your salads.
key information
- Yield: 5
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 0 minutes
ingredients
- 5 Oranges
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Parsley Leaves, finely chopped
instructions
1. To prepare the oranges, cut the top and the bottom off (the orange should be able to stand up on its own).
2. Place the orange on a cutting board, one of the cut-sides down, and remove the peel of the orange (use a serrated knife – it makes it easier to remove the peel).
3. Each piece of the orange is called a segment. Use the white pith that separates the orange segments as a guideline and cut the orange into segments.
4. Toss in remaining ingredients and serve chilled.
helpful hints
- When removing the peel from the orange, be sure to remove the bitter pith (the white part) of the orange.
- I like to serve orange salad in a wine glass or martini glass to spruce up the presentation. It is a nice complement for such a simple salad.
