Creamy Italian Dressing
a delicious dressing, dip or even a sauce
This herb-filled creamy Italian dressing is quite the multi-purposed dressing. I have tossed this with roasted potatoes, dipped chicken wings in it and even mixed it with some pasta. Of course I would definitely recommend this dressing as an excellent dressing for a delicious salad!
cooking information
- Yield: 1 Cup, approximately
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cooking Time: 30 minutes
all ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
- 2 Heads Garlic
- 3 Tablespoons Fresh Oregano, chopped
- 3 Tablespoons Fresh Basil, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Plus One Dash of Salt
recipe instruction
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Cut off the top of the garlic to expose the head and place garlic on aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Close the aluminum foil, tightly wrapping the garlic and place in oven. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the garlic is golden brown and spreadable.
3. While the garlic is cooking, combine your buttermilk, sour cream and oregano. Stir and mix together thoroughly.
4. When the garlic is finished cooking, you will be able to easily squeeze the end of the garlic that is still in tact, and the garlic cloves will pop out of the exposed opening. Stir into your dressing.
5. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the dressing and stir together.
cooking tips
- Be very careful as the garlic will be extremely hot when you remove it from the oven!
- You will know when your garlic is finished cooking as it will be golden brown and will have carmelized.
