Hot Buttered Cider Rum

Hot Buttered Cider Rum

warms you from the inside out

Omigoodness this is yummy! Of course, it’s absolutely perfect for the cold-weather months. The cinnamon smell will fill your kitchen and is particularly nice to serve from the stove at a gathering. Set up mugs beside a warm pot and invite your guests to help themselves. It truly does warm from the inside out. And it’s perfect with or without the rum. The hot apple cider, cinnamon, and butter are a delicious treat on their own.

Winter Brew and Egg nog float are other great holiday drink recipes for the cold-weather months.

cooking information

  • Yield: 7 Mugs, 40 Shots
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 10 minutes

all ingredients

  • 1/2 Gallon Apple Cider
  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter
  • 2-3 Sticks Cinnamon
  • Dark Rum

recipe instruction

1. In a large saucepot, combine the cinnamon sticks, butter, and apple cider and turn to medium high heat. Bring to a boil until the butter melts and you can smell the cinnamon.

2. Fill the bottom quarter of a mug or shot glass with the dark rum. Ladle the apple cider concoction on top. Serve and enjoy.

cooking tips

  • Don’t actually put your rum in the saucepot because you don’t want to cook any of the alcohol out of the rum.
  • If serving this at a party keep on low heat so it’ll stay warm and capable of serving the whole night.
