Blackberry-Sesame Compote Recipe

The sweet of sesame and sour of blackberries dance together perfectly in this simple compote recipe. I initially created it to drizzle over Sesame-Cardamom Cheesecake, but it also a treat over mascarpone gelato, or ricotta-stuffed French toast, or even as a relish for chicken or pork.

  1. Clean your blackberries. Dispose of any mushy or moldy ones.
  2. Into a large sauté pan on medium-high heat add the blackberries, water, and sauce.
  3. Let the mixture cook until the berries burst and the liquid reduces. (You’ll know the compote is done when it coats the back of a spoon.)
  4. Let it cool completely and store in an air-tight container.
