Easy Blueberry Compote Recipe
If you are a fan of blueberries, you’ve got to try this super easy blueberry compote recipe. This recipe for blueberry compote was originally created to top a bowl of ice cream, but I have used it as a gourmet jelly for sandwiches and over a nice thick waffle. With just four simple ingredients (five if you like it a little sweeter), this blueberry compote will become a go-to summertime favorite.
cooking information
- Yield: 1.5 Cups
- Prep Time: 0 Minutes
- Cooking Time: 30 Minutes
all ingredients
- 2 Cups Fresh Blueberries
- 3 Cups Orange Juice
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Ground Ginger
recipe instruction
- Add your fresh blueberries, orange juice, cinnamon and ginger to a large sauté pan.
- Place on high heat.
- Cook until the orange juice reduces and the blueberries burst. The sauce will be finished when it’s reduced by half and a thick consistency.
- Remove from the heat and store in an air tight container. Serve with ice cream or even homemade blintzes.
cooking tips
- I love to store this in my refrigerator and treat it like a jelly for sandwiches, or make this a blueberry compote for pancakes, and even packaged up as a fun hostess gift.
- This is a little tart, if you want more sweetness you can always add a teaspoon at a time of honey.
