Easy Blueberry Compote Recipe

Easy Blueberry Compote Recipe

If you are a fan of blueberries, you’ve got to try this super easy blueberry compote recipe.  This recipe for blueberry compote was originally created to top a bowl of ice cream, but I have used it as a gourmet jelly for sandwiches and over a nice thick waffle. With just four simple ingredients (five if you like it a little sweeter), this blueberry compote will become a go-to summertime favorite.

cooking information

  • Yield: 1.5 Cups
  • Prep Time: 0 Minutes
  • Cooking Time: 30 Minutes

all ingredients

  • 2 Cups Fresh Blueberries
  • 3 Cups Orange Juice
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Ground Ginger

recipe instruction

  1. Add your fresh blueberries, orange juice, cinnamon and ginger to a large sauté pan.
  2. Place on high heat.
  3. Cook until the orange juice reduces and the blueberries burst. The sauce will be finished when it’s reduced by half and a thick consistency.
  4. Remove from the heat and store in an air tight container. Serve with ice cream or even homemade blintzes.

cooking tips

  • I love to store this in my refrigerator and treat it like a jelly for sandwiches, or make this a blueberry compote for pancakes, and even packaged up as a fun hostess gift.
  • This is a little tart, if you want more sweetness you can always add a teaspoon at a time of honey.
