Of all the burgers I’ve done, this could very well be the heartiest. Packed with flavor and texture, it absolutely will satisfy.

- 1/2 Large White Onion
- 2 Cloves Minced Garlic
- 2 Tablespoons Ground Paprika
- 1 tsp Ground Cumin
- 1 tsp Ground Coriander
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Red Wine
- Salt and Pepper
- Olive Oil
- 3 Green Peppers
- Homemade Creamed Corn
- 1 Dozen Dinner Rolls
recipe instruction
1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and preheat your grill. Place your peppers on a cookie sheet and put in the oven.
2. While the peppers are roasting you can prepare the burger meat. First, finely mince your onion and garlic cloves.
3. To a large saute pan add your olive oil and turn to medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic.
4. Saute the onions and garlic until they have become tender and translucent.
5. Add to the pan the paprika, cumin, coriander, and sugar. Saute together until all of the onions are coated.
6. Next, add red wine to the pan and let reduce. After it’s reduced, remove from the heat and let cool.
7. Check the peppers in the oven. As soon as the skin has begun to wither and turn brownish they are finished cooking. Remove from the oven and place in a bowl. Cover in plastic wrap so they can continue to steam in the bowl.
8. Once the onion concoction cools, add it to your ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Mix together until a uniform consistency.
9. Form your burgers into 12 equal burgers. Next, place your burgers on your preheated grill. Let cook on the first side 5-6 minutes until it gets a good crust.
10. Flip your burgers and let finish cooking another 4-5 minutes.
11. While your burgers are cooking, remove the peppers from the bowl and peel the skin off of the meat of the pepper. Remove the stem and seeds. Tear the peppers into large pieces.
12. Once your burgers are finished cooking, it’s time to assemble them. Place a piece of the roasted green peppers on the bottom of the bun, then the burger, and finish off with a spoonful of hot homemade creamed corn.
13. Serve and enjoy!
cooking tips
- The burgers can be seasoned and formed ahead of time. Also, the peppers can be roasted ahead of time and then everything can just be cooked and assembled once the guests get there.
- If it’s no longer grilling weather you can always cook the burgers on the George Foreman, in a saute pan on the stove top, or even baking them in the oven.
