Stand Mixer Tips and Tricks
- If ever you are whipping either whipped cream or whipping egg whites put your bowl in the freezer. If the mixing bowl is cold it will help everything whip up a little faster.
- When you are adding dry ingredients to the mixing always turn it off first. I know this might sound a little obvious but I have covered my kitchen enough times in flour thinking I didn’t need to do this.
- Always start off slow when you are mixing ingredients together. Once they are combined you can turn it to full speed.
- If a recipe calls for hand beaters just use the Kitchen add with the paddle attachment. You will save yourself time and this will help to avoid carpal tunnel for the rest of your life.
- Have a working knowledge of all of the attachments available. Of course a KitchenAid mixer itself is a little bit of an investment but if you buy all of these attachments you can save a lot of money buying big tools for just one job. Check out the attachments.
- After 15 minutes of continuous mixing let it have a rest. I have used the mixer for long increments of time and it starts to loose it’s strength. You don’t want to over work your KitchenAid so after 15 minutes stop and give it a break.
- Always make sure the base is completely locked into place. If it isn’t completely secured then it’ll wobble off, and depending on what you are mixing, will make for a dirty kitchen.
