How to Make Marshmallows
But of course this got us talking about homemade marshmallows….because of course Caitlin makes them. Of course.
One of my most favorite things about being a part of Cooking with Caitlin is the amazing people we get to meet. A few weeks ago, we had Grammy-nominated children’s singer and songwriter Zak Morgan on the air with us on our weekly radio show (55KRC’s What’s Hot with Molly, Kelly and Caitlin). Oh wow did we have fun (Be sure to closely watch the short online video I shot below. Between Kelly and Caitlin, can you tell who was having the MOST fun? Guess.)
So what’s this got to do with Marshmallows? Zak Morgan sang a song about candy that, I must warn you, will get stuck in your head. But of course this got us talking about homemade marshmallows….because of course Caitlin makes them. Of course.
Here’s the link to the homemade marshmallow recipe for the complete scoop. We have been assured that just about anyone can learn to make this simple recipe. For a simple dessert option serve them alongside a mug of hot chocolate, or dip this candy into chocolate.

Kids Activity
Or use this as a little instructional time with your kids and let them pour the ingredients. It can be a simple tutorial on how to measure and follow “how to instructions”. Caitlin has let her son add food coloring to make tie dyed marshmallows.
S’mores
Play with your food a little and consider making an “adult” S’more by shape of a chocolate martini. Combine Godiva Liqueur, Vodka, Irish Cream and Cream (complete Chocolate Martini recipe) in a shot glass and this becomes the chocolate part of your Adult S’more. Then top it with a graham cracker and a homemade marshmallow for a gourmet, decadent dessert.

Going “homemade” does not need to be hard. Give the recipe a shot!
