Food Photos: The Summit Restaurant
Let me take this opportunity to reflect a bit, and tell you about my friend Caitlin. It was so fun to see her completely relaxed last night. It really made me think of and appreciate just how much she does for us in the food department. To see her, in a restaurant and not in charge…of anything….well, in short, it was great. Check out the photos, she is grinning ear to ear in every one of them.

What is it about pictures of food that simply can get you salivating? Just look at the photos below. Justice cannot be done to just how great of an experience this was. Last night, at The Summit (the restaurant run by the students of The Midwest Culinary Institute) we spent the night counting our lucky stars to get to eat this beautiful food. Check out the food pictures below.
The event we attended was a Wine Dinner featuring the MCI Olympic Team and wines from Grgich Hills Estate. This meal was quite the dining experience. Even Caitlin marveled at the level of detail. She spent the night pointing out just how perfect the food was prepared – from the lamb that was perfectly cut, to the spice used on the beef and just where it was hitting us in our mouths. Of course, it was nothing short of a culinary adventure.

Tonight Caitlin will also be grinning ear to ear, but for different reasons – we’re serving about 80 people at our signature event, Third Thursday. This time, instead of leisurely sitting, she’ll surely have a knife in her hand for 4 hours straight and shuttling us out of the kitchen with one course after another (9 in total). Inevitably, she will have to explain to us exactly what it is that we are serving no less than 4 times to be sure that we get it right (…and even then we have been known to get it wrong…just every now and again).
We hope you’ll enjoy the food photos below. There are a ton more where these came from. Although we are not professionals, we do capture some good photos every now and again.

We did get the chance to interview the wine rep from Grgich Hills and got some great information from him. The video will follow in the next day or so. He was quite knowledgeable and took all of our questions in stride. Stay tuned!
