What’s Hot: Cincinnati Jazz & The Blue Wisp
Looking to impress your friends, out of town visitors – heck even yourself? Stumped and need inexpensive date ideas? Want to find that one place that will knock your socks off? If so, this show is for you. Listen in and learn right along with us.
This week on What’s Hot with Molly, Kelly and Caitlin we had the opportunity to talk with Blue Wisp Jazz Club owners Jack Brand and Eddie Felson, along with Marketing Manager, Jackie Walsh. Located in Downtown Cincinnati, the Blue Wisp offers what’s probably the most notable live music found around the Tri-State area. And as far as jazz venues goes, this is one that will surely impress. Located near many of the downtown Cincinnati hotels, might we suggest that the Blue Wisp could be the icing on the cake for those planning a stay-cation?
Perhaps what the Blue Wisp is best known for is their Wednesday night Big Band. We’re talking a 17-piece amazing band that will just blow you away. Walking into the Blue Wisp (and especially on a Wednesday) will surely make you give pause trying to remember the last time you did anything so cool.
If you have ever thought of owning your own club, you definitely want to listen to this show. Learn all it takes to run a Jazz venue. I mean really, who knew. It will give you a whole new appreciation (and the inside scoop, the next time you hit the Blue Wisp). A musician himself, Eddie has spent countless hours sourcing the best of the best to play at the Blue Wisp – from nationally known acts to up-and-coming musicians – he has heard them all. Jackie works tireless hours watching over the customers, and helping to spread the good word about the Blue Wisp. And Jack, well Jack is truly a “Jack of all Trades” (thank you Jack for indulging us).
The next time you are looking to plan a date for your perfect match, and you want that perfect – only in Cincinnati – thing to do, run (do not walk) to the Blue Wisp. Put on your trendy and stylish duds, surprise your date with some flowers (the old fashioned way) and sit back and enjoy. It is undoubtedly one of our (the Cooking with Caitlin girls) favorite things to do in the city. You can thank us later.
