Foodies’ Night In with Lollibeans
Join us Monday, December 7th, between work and home for a lively conversation with and thoughtful inspiration from Cooking with Caitlin, Lollibeans, and a table-full of locavore Twitter friends. It’s a very special online event. Created by Molly, Kelly, and Caitlin of cookingwithcaitlin.com, #FNI is just one more way of bringing the hungry people of the world to the same table. We know how busy everyone is and we are hoping to that this is one of those online events you don’t want to miss.

Here are some of the discussion points of the day:
Do you think the locavore movement is a trendy fringe movement or does it have the potential to be more mainstream?
What is more important – the fact that your food is organic or locally grown? Do you care about the difference?
What tools do you use to start teaching your young children about preserving the environment?
Do you have your own garden? What tips do you have to share with others?
Education abt healthy eating habits is key to reducing the obesity epidemic – suggest some ways to begin continue the education process?
What creative techniques do you use to get your kids to eat their veggies? (i.e. baking carrots in brownies , etc.)?
How do you encourage your young children to eat healthy?
When you go to a restaurant, how important is it that they serve locally grown, organic food?
What is your favorite quick and easy dinner during the week?
What is your kids favorite healthy recipe? Favorite Veggie?
At what age did you start involving your children in meal prep?
Next week we are talking about foods best shared with your girlfriends – have any favorites to share today?
Here’s how it works: Late Monday afternoons (4-6pm eastern to be exact) we meet through Twitter. Using the hashtag #FNI and that of the weekly sponsor, we greet each other at the virtual door, and get cozy to talk about whatever food-related topic we are featuring that day. Typically the topic will be determined by the weekly sponsor of #FNI. The sponsor compiles at least ten questions that serve as the framework of the conversation over the two hours of #FNI. Then, the hosts throw out each question at pre-determined times throughout #FNI. Of course, the questions and hosts are in place to guide the worldwide chat, but all candid questions, comments, and concerns are invited and encouraged.
In the end, we all walk away with our bellies full of new ways to think about, prepare, store, purchase, eat, and altogether celebrate that which connects us all – food. Before you get cozy with us on December 7th, take a moment to become familiar with Cooking with Caitlin and Lollibeans just to get your locally-focused noggin thinking.
