Spiral Sliced Ham – Individual
bites of sweet and salty
Around the holidays, turkey and ham are staples at my house. Sometimes, just to get the party started, I like to wet people’s appetites with a bite-sized bit of spiral sliced smoked hams. Topped with the preserve, the combination of the sweet and salty flavor is truly mouth-watering. Serve this appetizer with Cream of Pumpkin Soup and Pecan Molasses Brittle.
cooking information
- Yield: Approximately 30
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cooking Time: 7 minutes
all ingredients
- 1 Spiral Sliced Smoked Ham
- 1 Cup Apricot Preserves
- 1/2 Cup Water
recipe instruction
1. Stack 3 slices of ham on top of one another. Using a small circular cookie cutter, cut little circles out 3 slices of ham at a time. (There will be a lot of waste but save for the HoneyBaked Ham Stuffed Shrimp or freeze and save for soups.) You want the circles to be about 1 inch in diameter.
2. Place the cut ham on a cookie sheet.
3. In a small sauté pan combine your apricot preserves and water. Turn to medium-high heat and stir until the preserves have loosened up and become more of a watery concoction.
4. Spoon preserve mixture on top of the sliced ham.
5. Place under broiler for 2 minutes or until the ham starts to brown.
6. Remove from the broiler, serve by sticking a fork in and giving everybody their own to enjoy.
cooking tips
- Don’t have a cookie cutter – be creatitve. Use a baby bottle top to cut the circles!
- Serve each ham spiral from the end of a fork.
