Easy Chocolate Mousse

Easy Chocolate Mousse

rich and decadent

If you are a chocolate lover this is an easy recipe for the classic chocolate mousse you will adore.

This chocolate mousse is whipped to perfection. And it’s really rich too, so I like to offer it one spoonful at a time with a slice of fresh strawberries on top. Serve it on a saucer beside a cup of hot tea or coffee after a hearty dinner of Steak and Mashed potatoes.

cooking information

  • Yield: Dessert for 6-8
  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 10 minutes

all ingredients

  • 1 Pound Bittersweet Chocolate
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • 8 Ounces Heavy Whipping Cream, Cold

recipe instruction

1. Fill a small saucepot half-way with water. Turn to medium heat, and place a bowl on top of the water to create a double boiler. Add your bittersweet chocolate, broken into smaller pieces, and your butter, cut into pats. Melt together and stir continuously to combine.

2. In two bowls, separate your egg yolks from your egg whites.

3. Combine your egg whites and sugar. Beat with an electric mixer to stiff peaks.

4. Once your chocolate and butter are melted, whisk in your egg yolks. Remove from heat.

5. Fold your chocolate mixture into the stiff peaks of your egg whites. (Add the chocolate in 3 stages to not deflate your egg whites.)

6. In a separate bowl, whisk the cold whipping cream to stiff peaks as well. Now fold your new chocolate mixture into your whipped cream.

7.Chill, serve, enjoy.
