Homemade Beer Bread

Homemade Beer Bread

a super easy and hearty treat

Beer bread has always been a favorite of mine. I’ve enjoyed it with my family for years. Believe it or not, it was not until recently that I started making it myself. Now I find myself looking for reasons to incorporate it into a meal.

For a great meal, top a hunk of bread with thinly slice corned beef and a forkful of sauerkraut. Or, smear it with cream cheese and make it into a Skyline Sammie.

cooking information

  • Yield: 4 Servings
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 30 minutes

all ingredients

  • 2 Cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 12 Ounces Beer
  • 3 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoon Salt
  • Cooking Spray

recipe instruction

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and sugar with a wooden spoon; add the beer. (Adding salt to beer makes it foam and a little bit harder to stir together, so be sure to add the beer last.) **Mix together for 1 minute and no more; there may still be lumps, but be careful not to over-mix the batter.**

3. Spray a loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray, and pour your batter into the pan. Spread it out evenly.

4. Place in your pre-heated oven and cook for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and pulling from the sides.

5. Once the bread is completely cooked, remove from pan and let rest 15 minutes. Slice, serve, enjoy.

cooking tips

  • Make sure that you are using self rising flour in the recipe versus all purpose flour. The flour is what gives the bread the ability to rise and become moist.
